Oral Presenter

An oral presentation of your work followed by a brief question & answer period will take place in a chaired session along with other presenters.

GUIDELINES

Adjusting Your Time

Your presentation should be roughly 10-12 minutes long and it must allow 3-5 minutes for audience questions and a total allotted time of 15 minutes.

Formatting File(s)

PowerPoint presentations should be saved in PowerPoint 2013 or 2016 (*.pptx). Note, Prezi may be used; however, we strongly advise a ‘downloaded’ Prezi file rather than accessing your content online.

Sizing Slides

PowerPoint presentations should use a ‘wide-screen (16:9)’ format. Go to the Design tab then select Slide Size. On the dropdown menu, select ‘Widescreen (16:9)’ and click OK.

Uploading File(s)

To optimize session efficiency and reduce delays between presentations, you will not be able to use your own laptop for your presentation. In addition, we strongly advise against using a presentation that requires an internet connection and you should use a saved local copy of the file(s), including both presentation and videos, during the session.

Your presentation file(s) must be uploaded to the symposium computer via a USB memory stick on the day before your scheduled presentation.

Demonstrating Simulations

A computer demonstration session will follow your oral presentation session. You along with nine other presenters will have a 45-minute session to interact with those who are interested in your presented work. You should prepare additional computer simulation demonstration materials (e.g., animations, computer code, presentation slides) showcasing your work. You will need to show your demonstration materials on your own laptop. The use of materials that can be accessed only via internet is discouraged.
