Magnús Kjartan Gíslason received a C.Sc. degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Universty of Iceland in the year 2000 and a B.Sc. in Technical Physics from the same university a year later. In 2002 he received an M.Sc. degree in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow studying wrist biomechanics. After finishing his degree Magnús returned to Iceland to work on a project that involved measuring the EMG of the deep neck flexors in relation to whiplash injuries. In the year 2004, Magnús returned to the University of Strathclyde to start his Ph.D. under the supervision of Dr. Nicola Fowler from the department of Bioengineering and Dr. David Nash from the department of Mechanical Engineering. His research interest is hand and wrist biomechanics and his current project involves looking at the load transfer through the wrist joint using a finite element method. Magnús plans to finish his Ph.D in the beginning of 2007.
