The Call for Applications for the EDC Congress Travel Grant in order to attend the XXV ISB Congress in Glasgow, Scotland, is now open. Please see the Application Instructions below for further details.
EDC Congress Travel Grant
The International Society of Biomechanics (ISB) is pleased to continue supporting its members from Economically Developing Countries (EDC) who wish to participate in the biennial ISB Congress. The EDC Congress Travel Grant is awarded on a case-by-case basis and will subsidize essential transportation (e.g. economy class plane, train, or bus ticket, car hire, etc.) and/or the Congress registration fees. Accommodation for the duration of the congress may be subsidized under special circumstances.
Eligibility:
- All ISB members working or studying at an institution in an economically developing country (EDC). For the EDC Congress Travel Grant, these include all countries ranked below the “Very High” United Nations 2013 Human Development Index (HDI). HDI ranking will be taken into account with the assessment of each grant application. EDCs and their HDI are listed in the linked document here.
- The EDC Congress Travel Grant is not limited to student members. Any faculty/staff member of an EDC institution is encouraged to apply.
- Grants will be awarded to authors of accepted abstracts or those participating in a designated EDC congress event. Your abstract and/or EDC event Statement of Interest must be submitted together with your application (details will be provided with application instructions).
Application Instructions:
Professional ISB-EDC members should complete the Application form including all accompanying documentation and a cover letter that outlines your contributions to the ISB community and addresses how you may benefit from attending the XXV Congress. All applicants are strongly urged to submit a scientific abstract for presentation at the congress; however, under exceptional circumstances, a detailed Statement of Interest in a specific EDC event may be substituted for the abstract.
Please email a .pdf file of the application to: Andrea Hemmerich and Bart Koopman (This email address is being protected from spambots. Students from institutions in EDC regions will be considered for additional funding according to their submitted budget. A separate application for the EDC Congress Travel Grant Program will not be necessary. Please clearly indicate on your application that your main affiliation is with an EDC institution.
2. Letters of Intent are not a requirement in the EDC Congress Travel Grant application process. If you did not submit a Letter of Intent, you are still encouraged to apply for the grant.
